Valiyakulam Renovation Project: A Tourism Development Initiative
The renovation of Valiyakulam—a key development project in Neyyattinkara Taluk—has commenced with an investment of ₹1 crore from the State Government. Although the water body spans an area of approximately 20 acres, its original designated area is 12 acres. This project is being implemented with the aim of boosting tourism.
Key Objectives:
Sports and Recreation: To equip the pond for hosting swimming training sessions as well as national and international-level competitions in the future.
Tourism: To attract tourists by introducing water-based recreational activities such as boat races and boating.
Social Upliftment: To create a space for leisure and recreation for local residents, including the construction of a park for children. This is also expected to pave the way for the overall development of the locality.
By transforming Valiyakulam into a major tourist destination, this project will significantly contribute to the social and economic growth of the region.
